CHILDREN’S EYE EXAMINATION

Eye problems in children may be hard to detect because children assume their vision is normal and usually don’t complain even problems are present.

CHILDREN’S EYE DISEASES

Eye problems in children may be hard to detect because children assume their vision is normal and usually don’t complain even problems are present. The best way to ensure that a child develops normal with healthy vision is through routine, professional eye examinations starting shortly after birth, at six months of age, then again before entering school (age four or five) and periodically throughout the school years. If left untreated, many problems will get worse and prevent a child from developing good and healthy vision. In our clinic we use two different models of Plusoptix vision screening devices Plusoptix A16 ve Plusoptix CR03 to detect the most prevalent vision disorders in children under 4 years of age within seconds.

AMD / INTRAVITREAL INJECTIONS

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common condition affecting people age 50 years and older. AMD is associated with the loss of retinal photoreceptor cells in the center of the retina where vision is the sharpest (the macula). Macula provides the sharp vision for reading, driving and seeing fine detail. But as a rule, AMD does not typically lead to complete blindness. Clinically, there are two types of AMD ‘’dry’’ (non-neovascular) and ‘’wet’’ (neovascular) form. Currently, the only treatment for dry AMD is dietary vitamin and other supplements. The treatment of wet AMD has changed rapidly over the past few years. Treatment of this condition with intravitreal anti-VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) injections are currently the standard of care.  (Altuzan/ Avastin/ Lucentus/ Eylea)
